Google is continuously updating its SGE. On October 12, 2023, Google announced a latest update to its Search Generative Experience (SGE), which is a greeting image using AI and Search for inspiration with SGE.
We know that SGE is still in its early stages of development but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we search for and interact with information.
This update from Google is to help the users in visualizing ideas and generating written content. So the main purpose of this update is to allow users to do much more activity than just searching “— like creating an image that can bring an idea to life, or getting help on a written draft when you need a starting point.”
Create images with generative AI
In this update google will allow users to generate AI based images from user queries.
Google example: “Let’s say you want to make a card for a friend who loves to cook and whose favorite animal is a capybara. If you search for something like “draw a picture of a capybara wearing a chef’s hat and cooking breakfast,” SGE will provide up to four generated images in the results.”
By tapping on any of the images you will see the descriptive prompt that Google automatically generates from the initial query you have provided, like “a photorealistic image of a capybara wearing a chef’s hat and cooking breakfast in a forest, grilling bacon.”
Then when you select the edit option you can edit the description that was provided before and get you ideas in front of you.
Now you see how easy it is to create an image or to bring your ideas to life.
Additionally, SGE is also providing an amazing option to generate images directly from google images. You can see this feature to appear when you’re searching for inspiration, like “minimalist Halloweens table settings”.
The images created through this technology are equipped with metadata labeling and watermarking to indicate that they were created by AI.
These features from Google will have the safeguards feature to ensure that the generated images do not contain harmful or misleading content.
There is also an upcoming tool called “About this image” that will help people assess the credibility of images.
AI-Powered Writing & Searching for inspiration
In this update, Google is going to introduce a written drafts feature in SGE to assist users in finding writing ideas and inspiration during longer-running searches.
In this, users can ask SGE to write a note or draft that will help users to shorten or change to a more casual tone. Along with that when the draft is ready users can easily export the draft to Google Docs or Gmail and Google Workspace privacy protections can be carried over into this export functionality.
This feature is in English & currently only available for a small group of people in the United States along with those who are 18 years or older.
